Ang Mo Kio introduces community center

Inhabitants of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 will now enjoy their very own gym and various other facilities that contribute to their healthy lifestyle.

The fresh community center, ‘TOUCHpoint@AMK433,’ includes a gymnasium and also rehabilitating services. It also incorporates various facilities for its senior members.

The center was inaugurated on Sunday, 2nd June. The launch saw attendees that were nearly 1,000 in number, all inhabitants of Ang Mo Kio. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Mr Ang Hin Kee were also in attendance.

The launch also presented 50 residents with their Merdeka Generation parcels.

The community hub is situated at the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10’s Block 433. A number of its services are accessible throughout the day.

The inauguration was a project of the ‘Together We Care, We Connect’ event put together by Cheng San-Seletar GROs, in order to raise awareness of the numerous voluntary welfare organizations and govt. organizations to cater to people in the Cheng San-Seletar constituency.

The VWO Touch Community Services, located at Block 444, had tested a couple of the facilities being offered at the hub four years ago for the pilot programme. More than 500 inhabitants of the Ang Mo Kio were among the attendees of the activities organized at that time.

The novel community hub contains a rehabilitation center and also houses a strengthening class for seniors, the Lien Foundation’s Gym Tonic.

Also included is a Community Health Post, a place where esteemed nurses can keep a check on the heath of the inhabitants, and recommend treatments if need be.

Lien Foundation and CapitaLand Hope Foundation are responsible for funding the community center, which stretches for about 450 square meters.

The 54 years old Madam Jessie Teo, became an active member of the hub’s activities three years ago. She stated how she has, since then, started to feel closer to the Ang Mo Kio community.
